AI Field Notes
FAQ

FAQ: AI film tools, music, and this site.

How this site works, plus a few common AI film craft questions we hear often. Warm, plain, and still links-only.

About this site

What is AI Field Notes?

AI Field Notes is a links-only resource directory of public finds in AI film and creative craft. Each card credits the maker and sends you to the original source. We do not republish files, host audio or video, or mirror other people's work.

Who publishes it?

Nigel Camp (also known as Vinny B) publishes AI Field Notes. More about his work is on nigelcamp.com.

Why links only, and why credit the maker?

Because the value sits with the person who made the work. We name them above the title, link to where they published, and leave assets where they posted them. Thumbnails are hotlinked from public pages; if one disappears we show a quiet placeholder, never a copy.

What is the difference between Directory, News, Models, Workflows and Resources?

Directory holds individual public finds (tools, packs, posts) with a permalink per entry. News is a short reel of link-and-credit notes on AI film, craft and music. Models lists official and first-party access links for film and generative models. Workflows is for step-by-step pipelines and how-tos. Resources points at first-party maker doors; community and events live on their organisers’ own sites. Competitions covers festivals and challenges.

How do I suggest a find?

Use Contact / takedown with the public URL, who to credit, and a short note on why it helps. We follow the Method page: links only, never mirrored media.

Do you host files or events?

No. This site does not host third-party files, audio, video or project archives, and it does not run community events. We link out. For meet-ups and forums, look to organisations such as Creative AI Network on their own sites.

How often is it updated?

Whenever a useful public find lands and we have time to file it. There is no fixed schedule. Check News for recent notes, and each collection page shows a last-updated date when data is loaded.

Is this Creative AI Network?

No. AI Field Notes is a separate links-only resource published by Nigel Camp / Vinny B. Creative AI Network is its own organisation. We may link to their public pages from the Network or Events pages, but this site is not CAN and does not speak for them.

AI film craft

Where do you source AI music?

We do not host audio. For AI music tools and releases we point at public notes on News (filter Music) and at first-party model pages on Models, including makers such as Suno, Udio, Stable Audio, Lyria and similar. Always credit the tool and any human collaborators named on the source page.

Is AI going to replace video editors?

Unlikely in the sense people fear. AI is a fast-moving tool in the room; craft, taste, continuity and accountability stay human. Editors who learn the new tools will move quicker. The job is changing, not disappearing overnight.

Which model should I use for AI film?

It depends on the shot. Image-to-video, text-to-video, lip sync and longer narrative tools each have different strengths. Start on Models for official access links (Kling, Seedance/Dreamina, Veo, Runway, Hailuo, Wan and others), then check News and Workflows for how people are actually using them this month. Specs change; confirm on the maker's page.

How should I credit AI work?

Name the human maker first when there is one, then the tool or model if it matters to the audience. On this site the maker's name sits above the title and links back to their page. If you share a find, credit it the same way: title, maker, source URL. Do not strip credits from someone else's post.

Can I use AI music commercially?

Check each tool's current licence and terms yourself. Plans differ across Suno, Udio, Stable Audio and others, and they change. This site is not legal advice; we only link to public pages so you can read the maker's rules before you publish.

What is image-to-video versus other AI film tools?

Image-to-video animates a still you provide. Text-to-video starts from a prompt. Some tools add lip sync, camera moves or longer clips. Pick the lane that matches your plate: a locked hero frame often wants image-to-video; a cold open from words wants text-to-video. Workflows and Models collect links that explain each path without reprinting the guides.

Why care about workflows and pipelines?

A single model demo rarely matches a finished piece. Pipelines cover prompt craft, consistency, edit assembly, audio and delivery. Workflows is the lane for step-by-step process links; News stays for announcements. Credit the guide author and read it on their page.
